Community Development Fund
The Yukon Government’s CDF fund has been a major funder for numerous projects over the years, including: an upgrade of 2 indoor kennels, a review of protocols by animal shelter consultant, Alexandre Elllis, and safety upgrades throughout the building.
City of Dawson
The City of Dawson is our partner, and major funder for the following programs:
- The Spay and Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP)
- Canine obedience training week each summer
- Canine and Feline First Aid classes
Air North
Air North is a very community-minded Yukon business. They help our shelter, as well as other registered animal shelters in the Yukon, to fly animals within and out of the territory, mostly for medical treatment or because they are being surrendered from a remote community.
Klondike Visitors Association
The KVA have helped our fundraising efforts over the years by granting us a “Community Casino” night each spring. We get to use the wonderful Diamond Tooth Gertie’s casino as a venue for a fundraising event, plus the KVA donates the night’s bar takings to us!
The Feed Store/Pet Junction in Whitehorse help keep our pals fed and entertained by donating food and pet supplies as well as collecting donations, in particular a big Christmas donation drive for us and other Yukon animal shelters.
Maximillian’s is an enthusiastic supporter of Humane Society Dawson. In addition to collecting donations from their customers, and contributing merch to our fundraising events, Marianne and her staff are the driving force behind our “Pet Pictures with Santa” annual event, providing costumes, decor and volunteers.
